What is a non-majoritarian thing you would add to the US political system, if you were starting from scratch?
I definitely think you'd want something to require cross-racial consensus on certain issues or whatever. In uh the grand sweep of US history, that's kind of a big thing.
Like, I think it's just bonkers to think that the analogous divide in US society to these kinds of things is the crucial need to protect both North and South Dakota.
Conservatives on the EC: "You can't just let a majority trample over everyone. You need inclusive representation and real consensus."
Me: "Hm I prefer simple systems but I see your point."
Conservatives: "And that's why it's fine for an 85% White minority to run the government."
Urban/rural divide, ok sure. Although the thing is big cities are not actually a majority of the US so it is mostly just innumeracy to claim you need an Electoral College to protect against their influence.
