Imagine being repeatedly sexually assaulted, threatened and abused over the course of 8 years. Somehow you manage to gather strength and courage to report your abuser and get a restraining order, a warrant is issued but he doesn't go to jail. One day you're sitting at home and he
shows up, has a knife on him, takes your keys, he's doing what he has done over and over. You're scared so you call the police, they show up and your rapist gets shot while resisting arrest but now everybody is talking about how an honourable man he is, he gets over a million
dollars in donations so you sit there thinking why did you even report him? Maybe it's your fault he got shot. You should've just kept being a victim and he'd be ok. Everybody thinks he's a good guy so what he did was normal, it must've been. You must've exaggerated and reported
him for nothing. Next time someone abuses maybe you won't report them, why for? The last time you did that the guy became a millionaire. The next girl being abused might be thinking the same.
Are people thinking about the rape victim? Short answer: No.
