We obviously expect this from the right but anti-sex work moralizing from the left is so weird and boring and harmful
“Why support letting your comrade’s body be treated like a commodity?” We are always commoditized laborers under capitalism, and this is especially glaring obvious in any job that requires a lot of physical labor. Just admit you have hang ups about people selling sex and go.
I can’t imagine using this post-SESTA/FOSTA moment of economic recession/mass unemployment to continue browbeating sex workers into “more respectable” work that doesn’t offend your sensibilities. I want them to be safe & not to be criminalized, same as I’d want for any worker.
It reeks of lateral enforcement of patriarchy from women, but it’s especially gross from men. It’s giving huge “Roxanne” by Sting energy: if they stop doing sex work will you find them a new job and pay their rent?
The relationship between gendered labor, the family, the state, and the body ultimately offers a much more compelling argument for decriminalization, reproductive justice, and labor rights than condescending chuds waxing poetic about “self-exploitation”
