I Walked Around and Looked at the Yard Signs in a Suburb in Ohio So You Don't Have To: An Essay (a thread)
For background: I spent part of my afternoon earlier this week walking around in Bexley, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. It has a population of almost 13,700 and a median household income of about $108,000. Nearly 90% of the population is white.
First thing's first: By far and away, the most common signs were for the presidential race. Nearly all were for Biden, only a few being new enough to include Harris on the sign. The lone exception was a sign in support of Kanye West, though I do not know if it was serious or not.
Behind presidential signs, we had school signs. Whether for a recent grad or a kid who plays sports, a lot of homes showed pride in the schools. Most were for Bexley public schools, but I saw some for the Columbus School for Girls.
Next, I saw a lot of signs in support of Amy Acton. She was the head of the Ohio Department of health, gaining prominence during the early months of the Coronavirus pandemic. She is also a Bexley native. One of these signs was in a yard across from the Governor's Mansion.
There were also a decent amount of Black Lives Matter signs, but not as many as I had anticipated. Interestingly, there were about the same number of signs in support of the Bexley Police Department.
Finally, there were some outliers. I saw a handful of signs in support of local candidates for judge, a few Peleton signs, and a single Joyce Beatty sign, which looked to be a holdover from the primary.
In conclusion: Why would you read through this dumb thread? This is not real punditry!

At least I got a nice walk out of this.
