I didn’t come up with the concept. I just put it in a tweet.
In the 3 1/2 years since I tweeted it, about 10% of responders missed my point, though.
“If it isn’t a deal-breaker, it means you’re racist as well.”

My point.

Twitter isn’t good for nuance or subtlety.
As @jsmooth995 put it, “some people just go to cross burnings because they really like s’mores...but once you’re there, and see the burning cross and don’t leave...at that point you’ve chosen to be at a cross burning.”
(Sigh) to clarify: when I said “I didn’t come up with the concept”, I don’t mean I stole the exact saying from anyone, I just mean I’m hardly the only one who was making a similar point at the time. I just boiled it down to 140 characters. Yes, the tweet is attributable to me.
Over the years, some have complained that I didn’t also include “misogyny”, “antisemitism”, “xenophobia”, “homophobia”, etc.

First, sometimes less is more; “racism” by itself was enough to make the point.

Second, at the time, Twitter only allowed 140 characters.
