There have been at least 280 people testing positive at the University of Miami since the semester started on Aug. 16.

The UMiami Covid19 Dashboard only provides info on the last week, so I decided to start keeping track.

Unfortunately, the UMiami Covid19 tracker is misleading on many fronts.

First, it only provides information for the last seven days and has no cumulative information.

Second, its information for the seven days it does include is incomplete.

Why is the info on UM Dashboard incomplete?

Its 7 days include the previous day.

The dashboard states that it counts tests on the day they are administered, not reported.

As a result, the numbers for the most recent day always an undercount bc the tests results are not in!
Look at these two screenshots from the last 2 days.

According to Dashboard on Aug. 28, there were 3 positive cases on Aug 27 & 18 on Aug. 26

On Aug. 29, with more results in, there are 14 positive cases on Aug 27 & 20 on Aug 26

It is artificially lowering actual 7 day average
Third, I have no idea what happened between Aug. 27 & Aug. 28, where the positive cases for the some days actually decreased.

On Aug. 27, the UMiami Covid19 Dashboard reported 53 cases for Aug. 25

On Aug. 28, that number had decreased to 23

(Take a look at Aug. 24 too)

????
Finally, according to Umiami Covid19 Dashboard's own numbers, there were 107 positive cases out of 573 tests for past week.

That's a positive rate of 18.6%

(Naturally, the Dashboard does not tell you that.) https://coronavirus.miami.edu/dashboard/
