On 20/08, Federal Judge Pablo Baldivieso, of the Judicial Subsection of Eunápolis, signed a preliminary injunction for the reintegration of an area of the Pataxó Novos Guerreiros community, in the Ponta Grande Indigenous Territory, within the city of Porto Seguro.

It gave a period of 5 days to clear the land. Today, this area is occupied by 24 indigenous families.
This injunction goes against the decision of the Supreme Federal Court (STF in pt), by the Minister Edson Fachin, which guarantees the suspension +

of all actions and resources on indigenous lands until the Extraordinary Appeal 1.017.365 / SC is judged, with general repercussion until judged by the STF or until the end of the pandemic, whichever comes last.

In the reinstatement injunction where these families were called invaders, it was not taken into account the Pandemic that we are living in. They completely ignored the fact that in Bahia State, the Pataxó people are the people with the greatest number of infected by Covid-19.

In addition to the helplessness, and the abandonment of these people by the Justice System, there is a fear that this land reclamation is a pass for other territorial struggles in the region to worsen.
