been wanting to say this so imma just say it: zuko isn’t a colonizer & wasn’t “complicit” in colonization. he never colonized anything & as a CHILD he couldn’t have done anything about the colonization his FAMILY did. zuko was a child soldier, a child brainwashed into doing wrong

i don’t know why y’all want to call him a colonizer so badly. he never did anything close to that. zuko was banished at THIRTEEN and his mission was to just find the avatar. in atla it literally shows how the war wasn’t even that important to him. it was all about the avatar

because again, zuko was a mentally and physically abused CHILD who only wanted his father’s love, and his honor, because he and overall the FN, were brainwashed into thinking that honor is THE most important thing. and he thought finding the avatar was the only way restore his.

plus, zuko was banished and considered a traitor to the fire nation so what colonization could he have even done for them?? like? he never colonized anything for himself, or for the FN. yes he did do bad things, but none of them colonization and he made up for his mistakes.

the REAL colonizers were his father and family who ACTUALLY colonized people and places. zuko is his own separate person, and shouldn’t be continually blamed for the sins of his family when he redeemed himself and worked to reverse what they did.

so stop calling him a colonizer because it’s honestly stupid, makes no sense, and it’s messed up to call an abused child that for no reason and put all the blame on him.

and for anyone that may want to come for me, i have every right to talk about colonization. i’m Black, and my land was colonized and my people were put into slavery, tortured, killed, and have suffered for over 400 years because of colonization. so i can have an opinion on this.
