One of my favourite artists ever is Norman Rockwell, very talented, uniquely qualified to portray capture an era, a way of life and somehow also exactly who I am and who I used to be, when I see these drawings, I see myself;
But although people often think of him as someone who perhaps shared a romanticised nostalgic view of life, he didn& #39;t avoid sensitive and political subjects in an amazing way;
But as someone for who WW2 played a huge role in her life, it& #39;s pictures like these that always feel like a punch in the gut.
They& #39;re cute and fun at first, but I can& #39;t help but imagine the stories behind these drawings, the pain, the fear, it& #39;s there, hidden.

Rockwell often used models and the photos he took are often as interesting and fun as the art he made;
But sometimes you can& #39;t help being hit by a wave of nostalgia, we know better, the past wasn& #39;t fun, there was lots wrong in the 1950s... but when I see this series portraying a girl and boy& #39;s life, I can& #39;t help but getting jealous.
Anyway, thanks Mr. Rockwell.
