It is pretty clear that this petty #NGO clique is parroting pernicious propaganda against our president and ppl of #Somalia. In many parts of the world there are proper media regulations that protect national security, as well as legal provisions on defemation, libel and privacy. https://twitter.com/abdullahisom1/status/1299636577002545152
It is impetuous to invoke international law for your insidious and invidious intent against #Somalia. There’s nothing inherently incompatible or impermissible in international law for governments to institute media regulations to protect public interest and internal security-2/6.
In fact Article 33 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, includes freedom of association which implies regulations for journalism associations and trade unions. It is also incorrect and figment of your imagination as there’s no international media law- 3/6.
Indeed many Liberal Democracies in the world, including #Australia and the #UK have introduced communications and media regulatory authorities such as the Office of Communications (Ofcom) in the UK and the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) in Australia- 4/6.
There are also consumer laws intended to protect against false advertising, deceptive and misleading conduct. In UK and Australia, there are also statutory authorities and independent commissions that administer privacy laws and access to information through #FOI legislation-5/6.
In a nutshell citizens are able to seek redress against injurious and malicious attacks by journalists via access to civil courts. Anyone can apply to the courts under libel and defamation laws for infringements and imputations against their individual rights and reputations-6/6
