Katy’s commercial decline will never make sense to me. Artists come and go for sure, but for someone as powerful as her it fell way too fast and hard.

I’ve tried pinpointing where it went wrong.
Was it right after “Dark Horse”? Did she become too over exposed after “Roar” and “Dark Horse”? “Birthday” and “This Is How We Do” did underperform. So maybe that was it, but maybe not
Or was “Rise” a sign that things were going wrong?

I mean it wasn’t a true single, so we can’t put much value on it. However, maybe it was a sign.
‘Witness’ is when the world realized that things had changed.

And this seems to be where a lot of people place the blame. Reasons from people have included:

- not having Dr. Luke
- some thought the album was bad
- some blame her haircut
- some blame her label

Was this it?
Others say (and I’m not saying I agree with these, just repeating what’s been said):

- she lacks versatility
- she got too political
- her personality started turning people off
- She caught flack for her Britney head shaving comments
Also, the Taylor Swift feud is another one people bring up
Other ones I’m seeing now:

- her collab with Migos
- inability to capitalize on the Super Bowl
- identity crisis
- some think she was big with the GP and didn’t have a large fanbase to back her up when the GP left
- the music industry sound has changed and some think she hasnt
