My first EVER thread! RTs and likes appreciated.

Basically after years of negativity and poor performances, I wanted to highlight some positivity since Arteta took over.
Manager: Mikel Arteta

Arteta was appointed Arsenal manager in December 2019 following a pretty disastrous end to Unai Emery’s tenure. Emery’s last game was a 3-0 hammering, ironically to Man City. Arsenal were struggling in the league with just FOUR league wins to that point.
Arteta said that he believed the club had lost direction. He didn’t want people to shirk their roles. He said “I want people to take responsibility for their job. Anyone who doesn’t buy into this, or has a negative effect, is not good enough for this environment or this culture.”
As 2020 began, Arsenal started the new year with a bang, comfortably beating Man Utd 2-0. Arsenal edged a 3rd round FA Cup match against Leeds. They couldn’t get to another final? Could they? A 2-2 draw with 10 man against Chelsea was the scene for a wonder goal from Martinelli.
It wasn’t plain sailing over the next few weeks. Results were up and down to say the least. Lacazette scored a massive away goal to Olympiakos in the Europa league but disaster struck when we were beaten 2-1 at home, losing on away goals.
March started with us progressing further in the FA Cup with a 2-0 away win at Portsmouth. We then snuck a 1-0 win against West Ham. Our next match was due to be against Man City but Arteta was diagnosed with COVID-19, meaning the game was cancelled. The world went into lockdown.
Following a three month shutdown, the league resumed with Arsenal taking on Man City. Again, we were comprehensively beaten 3-0 with. David Luiz disaster class, being sent off and conceding a penalty. Things got worse when we lost 2-1 to Brighton and Leno suffered a nasty injury.
Arsenal progressed to the FA Cup semi finals beating Sheff Utd with a last minute Ceballos winner. Arsenal were showing huge progress and this was highlighted with a fantastic 2-0 away win at Wolves.
We faced Man City for a third time this season, following two 3-0 losses, we were massive underdogs. However, Arsenal triumphed 2-0 with Aubameyang scoring both, including the first goal where all outfield players touched the ball in the build up. #ArtetaBall
A stunning win against Champions Liverpool showed further promise, before we finished the season with another stunning performance, beating Chelsea. Aubameyang winning and then dropping the FA Cup for Arsenal. Everyone felt like Laca!
It was clear transfers needed to happen over the summer and with Technical Director Edu, Arteta and his Brazilian colleague set about an overhaul of the team. Plenty of names have been linked. Gabriel, if signed (alongside Saliba) will add some needed defensive reinforcements.
Midfield is a MAJOR concern atm and names like Partey, Aouar and Thiago have been mentioned but as yet, not completed. Fact is, we seem to be in the process of addressing flaws that have been evident for years. Willian offers experience and the ability as a good squad player.
Captain’s Contract:

#Aubameyang’s contract signing has dragged on for weeks, however, there is renewed optimism that he will sign it, EVENTUALLY!

Just for the record:
@Aubameyang7 - sign da ting!

Youth:

Arsenal are blessed with an abundance of talented youth players such as: Saka, Martinelli, Willock, Nelson, ESR, Nketiah and AMN. Great news is that most are on long term deals, with Saka and Martinelli signing new deals in July 2020. The future is bright! 🔴🔴🔴
Signings:
Alongside Martinelli, Arsenal signed Kieran Tierney, Nicolas Pepe, David Luiz, Saliba who returned after his loan back to St Etienne and Ceballos. These signings will be stronger going into next season, with KT and NP having the potential to be HUGE players for us.
Success breeds success:

Having been in the job less than a year, Arteta and Arsenal have won silverware TWICE already, beating Liverpool 5-4 on pens in the Community Shield. A glorified friendly? Yes. Creating the winning habit and feeling? Yes. Don’t underestimate this!
Final thoughts:

With Arteta in charge, we have a tactically astute, no-nonsense manager who loves the club and wants us to return to where we belong, which is challenging for the league and returning to the Champions League.
Josh Kroenke said in July 2019 “Be excited!” If Arteta is backed financially in the transfer market, we can really be REALLY excited about what this season brings. It’s not an overnight fix, but we’re heading in the right direction. Strap in for the ride! #TrustTheProcess
