Now, before I continue, you need to understand a bit about me to know why this thread is going to be skewed.

I am what the Myers-Briggs guys would call an ENFJ. I know, it's just a model, it's not a real thing; but it gives you an idea of how I think about people and the world.
It means, inter alia, that it is difficult for me to understand why someone would want to just be rich and have a happy family and a nice car and a fun job and that somehow is fulfilling to them.
