2 things that need to stop in the policing discourse
1) Look! Evidence of the victim being less than an angel. So lets look the other way on excessive force

This is gross stuff. I refuse to ok any use of lethal force by police short of being fired upon. "Fear" of harm is also a blank check, for the police. I want immediate and radical police reform, but we'll never get it when cities burn before we have background info to debate

Yesterday the news cycle bent towards anger about the suspect/victim being handcuffed to the hospital bed. Not clear to me why he wouldn't be.

The expectation seems to always be that we stake out opinions w/ the least amount of info & then defend that view as things unfold

and to be crystal clear, I have a pretty radical view (i think) of citizens rights in regards to be assailed by police. I dont any of us should have to sit with hands on a wheel at traffic stops. Or notify of carrying legal sidearms. Or having defensive weapons, at all.

the only way you can explain to me that the officer fired 7 shots in this person's back is that cop not being ready for duty.
