When we rightfully call out a problematic game, let's be careful with our wording.

I guarantee that someone on the team spoke up and was ignored, many others whispered their discontent, and others still silently lost sleep over it.

Please be kind and understanding to them.

Early in my career I worked on military shooters that vilified Muslims. I was too afraid to say anything. It was my first industry job, I was the sole provider to my family, and leaving while crunching was not an option.

Eventually I spoke up and was able to make a difference.

Strangely I have many mixed feelings about the experience.

I love my ex-coworkers and don't hold any of it against them. I'm embarrassed at my cowardice for not speaking up sooner. I'm proud of the work I did and what I accomplished. I'm ashamed at the narrative we propagated.

So please don't assume that working on a thing means agreeing with it 100%. I'm fortunate enough to be at a point in my career where I have a choice on where I want to work and what I want to work on. Not everyone has this choice.
