Recalling the time an elder in his 30s in my grandmother& #39;s hall made it obvious that he was interested in me (I was 16 at the time). He had previously pursued another sister who had just turned 18, and her parents tried to pressure her to go along with it. She didn& #39;t thankfully.2
My relatives could sense his interest in me, but they seemed more amused than appalled. I remember one evening after a service meeting my family joking about the kids me and this elder would have together. I was still 16 mind you... 3
When I was 19, a brother in his late 30s/older 40s began to express some interest in me. He had a daughter that was almost my age. One day during the meeting for field service, he told the brothers he was working with me on some return visits. I had never agreed to work with him4
But I was too timid to speak up for myself and express how uncomfortable I was working with him alone. They never bothered to pair us with anyone else, even those who were going on RVs as well. I was stuck in a car with a brother unchaperoned... 5
The entire time I felt uncomfortable, was hoping he wouldn& #39;t try anything crazy, and knew I would be blamed if anything inappropriate did happen. Nothing did fortunate... 6
Grooming also happens in the organization by outside parties as well, who think it& #39;s "cute" to entertain the inappropriate affections of young children, especially male children... This happened to me as well... 7
I was around 12 when the JW parents of this 5 year old kid told my parents that he was interested in me and wanted to sit next to me at the meetings. As a 12 year old, I thought this was extremely odd and inappropriate, as I could sense what the intentions were... 8
My parents allowed this family to drop by our house unannounced one morning while I was still in my night clothes, he had bought me a "gift" and wanted to bring it to me. I was still in my night clothes and extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed... 9
Especially, when the kid randomly kissed me on the cheek without warning after giving me me my gift while both sides of parents oohed and ahhed in the background smh. And I was still made to sit by the kid at the meeting. I cringe at the thought... 10
So yeah, despite what these JW apologists claim, lots of grooming occurs in the organization in many ways, by older men who want to marry younger women they can control and by parents/family who don& #39;t want their daughters to be "old maids" 11 (end of thread)
