i think about this entire poem constantly but particularly
“So touch me lightly. A river runs through us
like your shadow on the opposite shore.” https://twitter.com/cgnelsonwrites/status/1299010090037645312
“From the shadow of domes in the city of domes,
A snowflake, a blizzard of one, weightless, entered your room”
-mark strand, “a piece of the storm”
“you are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.” -max ehrmann, “desiderata”
also been thinking, earlier this year in particular, a whole lot about Ilya Kaminsky’s “We Lived Happily During the War”
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
and miles to go before I sleep.
i can’t look at a plum without thinking about william carlos williams and if that doesn’t showcase the power of words and how my brain works idk what does
if this thread hasn't made it obvious i love poetry and i sure was That Bitch in high school quoting sylvia plath and the only reason i don't have some part of "mad girl's love song" tattooed on me is my deep fear of needles
