i would like my queer culture to reckon with the overlapping orthodoxies we clumsily mash together when we talk about gender and sexual identities as fixed objective absolutes located inside of every person rather than acknowledging that different people have different religions. https://twitter.com/QueerHercules/status/1299515787418329089
the great internet mind meld works like a crucible to melt down dozens of different ways to individually process millennia of restrictive Western gender concepts into one pure amalgam and our results don't make any god damn sense half the time. it's like militant agnosticism.
Like I respect the way you interpret your identity the way I respect people of faith. I won't challenge it even if it doesn't align with how I understand things; even if it can't exist in the same universe with what I believe to be true. That's not the fight we're here for.
I'm not here for friendly reminders that *some awkward combination of gender concepts that contradict one another* is the actual gospel truth.

I have a heterodox way I see all this. Everything doesn't fit into it. It doesn't have to, I'm not in charge of others' identities.
