To everyone who started threatening to unfollow me (lol) by assuming that if I defended @Tweet2Rhea Interview then obviously I fully support her, guess what- Today the CBI had to ask mumbai police to provide protection to her cos the media has made the probe impossible.
Channels are making reporters chase cars, people can't reach questioning without being chased by 15 cars & being stopped to answer their questions. I saw a clip of @republic reporter chasing Pithani's car even tho driver had started driving & it could've led to serious accident.
Meanwhile same reporter said 'I'll let you go if you answer 3 questions', to which Pithani said 'I can't, I can only speak to CBI, please move'. Reporter was PERSISTENT that he won't budge until his questions are answered & driver started driving. We are supposed to applaud this?
Meanwhile everyone's favourite journalist of same channel was screaming away to glory 'KEEP CHASING HIM, WATCH THAT VIEWERS, HE CAN'T ESCAPE US'. Arrey bhai, kahan karega escape? After being the self proclaimed voice behind getting CBI on case, why are you hindering probe?
By all means, let's continue tracking the developments. But where is the civility? In a parallel universe, there would be no car chases, or once comment declined, one would move away. Media is 4th pillar but we must also work within a civil framework right.
Today it is this masala/tamasha journalism that truly pains me as a person who loves being a journalist & would like nothing more than for the truth to prevail. But we are culpable as a society for promoting the media that's unfortunately prevalent in our country.
It's almost as if calm journalism won't work anymore, everyone's becoming identical to ace TRP game. Forget appreciation for calmer channels, we don't even call out or condemn when the limit is clearly crossed. Masses want tamasha, so they get tamasha.
