I see in my TL that many people retweet the tweet below. A couple of points. Firstly, the author confuses territorial waters with the concepts of continental shelf and EEZ. The map below does not depict claims of territorial waters. 1/4 https://twitter.com/koertdebeuf/status/1299370140409171973
Secondly, yes, Turkey may have a point regarding, for instance, whether in a future judicial settlement the GR island of Kastelorizo will be given a full EEZ. On that issue, see the thread of @yeacikgonul: https://twitter.com/yeacikgonul/status/1292881024209375232. 2/4
However, the map shown in @koertdebeuf's tweet (the so-called Seville map) and which is widely circulated in social media is not an official map of the GR government. Granted, the map may work as a non-paper or as a maximalist GR starting negotiating position. 3/4
However, in the recent GR-EG delimitation agreement the Greek EEZ area is different from the one in the Seville map, apparently GR having made some concessions towards Egypt. Therefore, it appears that the Seville map is not an official/absolute red line for Greece. 4/4
