Simulated value is what occurs when you do not stick your neck on the line and say 'this is me', espousing only the popular parts of you instead of the unglamourous, human aspects people will unfollow you for.

You might think this is a good strategy because of the optics, but in reality it precludes the possibility of die-hard relationships. You also attract sycophants and transient fans that use you for their own complexes, mistaking that for approval of your actions.

People need to have a reason to believe in you that penetrates the superficiality.

But first you must offer it.
