What is happening in #Belarus is a very worrying trend. These are not only attacks on press freedom. It's also the deployment of Russian journalists, their narratives and propaganda. It is more that the autocratic way of dealing with things,it seems to be a well-thought strategy
Blocking access to independent media not only significantly limits verified and reliable information, but also Belarusian language. Instead,Belarusians will be soon left with RT and Sputnik that has their clear pro-Russian, anti-Western agenda. What does it remind you of? Crimea?
Since at least December 2013, Russian media had been hinting at possible divisions in #Ukraine, and that #Crimea had to maintain its close connections with #Russia. We are already observing similar narratives in #Belarus, thanks to both the Russian media crew at state TV, and RT
Freedom of the press in #Belarus has always been extremely restricted. Now the authorities decided to ban most major indepen.outlets and foreign media.Bloggers are jailed. It is the cleanup of the media field. It is done not ony for the sake of pro-govt media, but also pro-Russian
