the world is pretty shitty rn, so here's a thread with pictures i took on okunoshima, also known as bunny island, last year!

okunoshima can be reached by ferry from takehara city in hiroshima prefecture. should you ever visit hiroshima, i highly recommend taking a day to visit bunny island
during the second world war a poison gas factory operated on okunoshima. today you can still see the ruins of the factory as well as visit a museum, which was opened in 1988
to reach tadanoumi from hiroshima city, you can take the kodama shinkansen to mihara and then change to the local train line. the ferry terminal is located in walking distance from the train station
as far as i know the island is uninhabited by humans, however, there is a resort hotel on the island that features tennis courts and a restaurant
the following pictures are from 2017 when i first visited the island. you can buy rabbit food at the ferry terminal or provide snacks like lettuce or carrots for them, make sure not to overfeed rabbits with vegetables though because rabbits have sensitive digestive systems
(this one is my favorite, don't tell the others tho)
while rabbits can be fed lettuce daily, carrots should be limited to once or twice a week

okunoshima is also an excellent location for hiking, since it offers numerous hills with breaktaking scenery. you can get maps of the island featuring its walking trails at the ferry terminal.
