Can't hold it in! I have to say it. I'm frustrated that an open letter written by 10 Black women resulted in UKRI offering a 45 min with low level EDI staff. When an open letter led by white academics (that got less traction), resulted in an offer to meet a @UKRI_news director
I'm calling on allyship and asking individuals to speak to their universities to write a statement of support for our letter and to write a complaint to UKRI about. You can read, sign, share our letter at https://knowledgeIsPower.live
Thank you. I'm are asking allies to 1) sign the letter 2) speak to their universities to see if they will make a statement supporting the letter 3) to consider making a complaint to UKRI 4) to join the Knowledge Equity event on the 10th of Sept https://knowledgeispower.live
On a @UKRI_News fund, to explore COVID & ethnicity; £0 from £4.3 million went to Black academic leads; no equality data was gathered; 1 person who sat on the assessment panel was connected to 3 of te 6 awards. We're just asking to be a part of creating a more inclusive system.
