From all these tributes to Chadwick Boseman, what sticks out is how genuinely kind he was. All that time he dedicated to fans, all those Wakanda salutes that symbolise so much to so many, and simply his strength to carry on and entertain people. Remember him well - be kind.
Thinking about kindness, in my working life I wouldn't be where I am without some of these people and their acts of kindness.
A thread.
2011, Empire Big Screen. @yo_damo, @joeutichi, and @nevpierce all took the time to chat with me after working, giving me advice on where to go to after university. They also introduced me to filmmakers I would have never have dreamed of meeting.
Nev also offered assistance on my Fincher dissertation and now, years later, I can proudly call him a mate.

And Joe gave me additional work with Q&A research and question writing. Have used these skills plenty of times since with EPKs.
2012, Dogwoof. Oli, @yungkha, @patrickhurley2, Terry, @annagodas, @anavdogwoof, @vesnacudicfilm and Mike give me an amazing internship experience - the first film work I get. (Also in Cannes, they helped me with a place to sleep one night when I was stuck - immensely generous)
2012-2015. Empire work experience and Empire Awards. People I still have the pleasure of working with regularly, but for a first foray into the journalistic world, couldn’t have asked for a nicer team to work with. Including:
2014, Cannes with @charlesgant, offering me a room for a few days, as well as party invites when I was new to the whole thing. And @TomLinay for helpful chats, and even an in for an interview at DCM after
2014, Altitude Music with @eskimoscott and @casparkedz. Wanted to explore work in music supervision, and had the most fun with them in Shoreditch
2014. After a press screening ends @radioleary was kind enough to chat to me (mostly about how great True Detective was) on the walk to the tube, and gracious enough to take my email for help with production experience. Next week I get an email from the BGT runners team for work
2015, More production work thanks to @nevpierce and the wonderful @SavannahJBay. Help on two of their shorts and get to understand script formatting, film sets, and crews. Working on Bricks, especially, is a cherished memory ( https://vimeo.com/251292624 )
2015, Still doing promo to pay the rent, I bump into @JohnScrafton in Shoreditch and get talking about films and work. He offers to put me in touch with a few people and it leads to an interview with StudioCanal. 7 months later, I’ve had an amazing internship with the distributor
Without John I wouldn’t be doing the job - that I love - right now.
2016, Suzanne Noble kindly puts me in touch with Laura Pettitt for a job opening with Untitled Communications. Two years later, I’ve worked on some ace unit projects and campaigns and found the career I really want.
2018, Freelance work. Thanks to people like @munrofilms, @tomassinipr, @DirRobSavage, @JeremyWooding, @JasonMaza, @lindadunscombe1 and @JackSpringFilm I get some diverse projects and great experiences
Now I’m in a job I adore with the best team anyone could ask for and it’s all in part to the people mentioned in this thread. Of course, there are more, but these handful of examples really meant a lot to me, and will forever stay in my memory.
Being open, friendly and helpful can change someone’s life. Thanks to all the people like this.
