Jessica Tanoe is the daughter of Hary Tanoe, Indonesian media tycoon of MNC Media. She is also involved in the family business. This is her response regarding a broadcasting bill that RCTI filed for judicial review.

We don& #39;t think you understand fully the context to why people are angered. The point is clearly that people already don& #39;t have as much freedom of speech as they deserve...
and on top of that, your father wants to monopolize the very little space we have left to express and broadcast ourselves. Especially when the traditional (and digital) media are dominated by rich people like you.
MNC Media itself has been already dominating social media platforms like YouTube, with RCTI, MNC TV, and many other YouTube channels gathered more than 41M subscribers and 22 billion views. Even RCTI itself is the most viewed YouTube channel in Indonesia.

It& #39;s clear MNC Media is already the market winner, so why they are trying to shut down competitors and monopolizing it?
How hypocritical when you said "our media is controlled by overseas", while your family business actually monopolized the media and hijacked the frequency that dissed the value of democracy.
Remember when your father used his media channels to do a political campaign of your father& #39;s own political party, and even used subliminal messages which are unethical and inappropriate?
Please drop the & #39;nationalism& #39; crap because we can& #39;t be fooled; we know it& #39;s all for your own commercial and business interests.
If you& #39;re concerned so much about leveling the playing field, how about you take a good look in the mirror and talk about the immense privilege you& #39;re born with, before telling lawmakers how to strip away the rights from poor people even more?
