I am here to tell you that it is entirely possible to walk from #BangsarSouth to #Midvalley. It took me 20 mins at moderate pace. 3000 steps. 2.2KM. 160 calories burnt. A thread. #walkablecities #kl #WhatIWantForMalaysia #WhatILearnedToday
First, you find this entrance in Bangsar South. It will lead you to Kerinchi LRT station. And it's located beside the 7/11. It's in the opposite direction of #TheSphere. Find it & walk down a few floors, don't worry, all escalators.
Now once you've gone down, down, down, you walk across this long ass bridge that crosses Federal highway and ends at Kerinchi. There is an Abg Polis sitting here so its fairly safe. And you might even see se interesting urban wildlife if you're lucky!
There is a SOS button. And i saw some interesting #animalpoop. Not sure what animal. Anyone can tell? Round, black, little balls.
After you cross the bridge and go down and around, stop for a juice/coffee/ breakfast break. Then you will exit left at the end towards the back of the building.
I got carrot+apple juice. #BYOB to be more environmentally friendly. This cost me 6 bucks and the guy was very obliging! Also by this time i'd gotten friendly nods from some of the guards as i walked along. 😄
Ok jap i want to eat cake first. I shall continue this thread when i am back home.
Soooo i'm back. Once you exit the stn you'll see this bridge across this cute river. Cross over and walk till the end. Make sure you don't throw any trash in the poor river. It's struggling bad enough as it is. Once you reach the end of the street you'll turn right.....
Now you masuk this lovely avenue lined w (rain?)trees. I love roads liddis w magnificent trees providing a cool archway. This âŹ‡ïž the heat immensely, absorbs pollution from cars, reduces dust & gives u fresh O2. Pls tell all your MPKJs/MPPJ/DBKL wtv to stop cutting down trees.
Jalan sampai u reach this overhead crossing. Now u cross the road. Almost the whole route is shaded but some parts exposed. This makes it tough under heavy rain/ very hot sun. Also uneven ground makes walking in heels hardđŸ˜©. KL is not very women or disabled friendly.
Selepas cross, cont in the same direction & turn left. U will pass TN. I saw an Indian uncle w bike probs, pushing his bike. This young Malay abg stopped & offered to help push the bike w his foot. You can see em riding off tgthr😊. So nice - this the Msia I want to believe in.
Jalan sampai you reach this other overhead bridge towards abdullah hukum stn. You're really near edi. On the way up stop to appreciate some more nature.
A lovely little pond & i saw many big birds sitting on the tree. No doubt feasting on yummy fish. ❀ Bird - black/white/grey w streaks across eyes. Big beaks like kingfisher. Anyone knows? A swatch of nature struggling to coexist w us in our jungle of concrete & metal machines.
After you masuk abdullah hukum LRT/KTM, cross over to KL Eco City on this over head bridge. Now the rest of your journey in aircon more or less.
From #KLEcoCity, anthr bridge 2 #GardensMall. I wanna come at dawn one day & birdwatch. While walking, enjoy the view & appreciate the hard efforts & lives of #foreignworkers to build our city. One vietnamese died, & 5 othrs injured just 4 this bridge. One's leg was amputated.
After that u know how to go from Gardens to MidV. All in all, a satisfying walk & i got to observe my city fr a diff perspective. I ❌ catcalled (OMG) & only had nice exchanges w ppl. Nonetheless wld not recc other women to go this route at night unless you're sure of yourself.
Ohh here is my Google Fit record of my round trip. Time is not accurate because part of it included waiting for my appt at MidV. Exercise for today is sorted. 👌😙 Let's move and walk more people. It's great for the mind, spirit and body. 🙆🏿
