/I'm not surprised the Chinese government has frozen communication with the Australian government. Of course there's still dialogue, but not with our politicians, because they're not up to it. No diplomatic experience, no cultural understanding. Totally out of their depth.
/Several cabinet members have shot their mouths off at unwelcome times, making sweeping accusations that don't even draw the basic distinction between the Chinese people and the CCP. It's embarrassing. One Donald Trump in the world is quite enough, thanks.
/Peter Dutton has the temerity to call China out on its human rights record, when he runs Home Affairs like his personal police state and is guilty on at least 3 counts of arbitrary detention of asylum seekers. Not to mention the violence, torture, withholding of medication...
/I have strong opinions on the CCP, which I express often and in no uncertain terms. But I can't blame them for giving our government the brush-off. Why would they want to talk to that pack of idiots? Instead, they've made an example out of Australia by punishing our economy.
/And make no mistake, WE ARE HURTING. The Chinese government knows our weak spots and they hit them hard and accurately. Unfortunately it's the ordinary Australians who feel the pinch, not the politicians rorting it up in their Canberra bubble.
/Australia is in no position to be throwing its weight around. We occupy an enormous landmass, and we have major strategic value in terms of trade. The fossil fuel industry is on the wane but it's viable enough for our government and pricks like Clive Palmer to profit.
/But we're also small in terms of population, relatively insignificant on the world stage, & vulnerable. The more we provoke China, the harder their government will sting us. We've no way to retaliate & I hope no one's waiting for the US to strike a blow for us. Why should they?
/I have no answers. My only suggestion would be to engage someone who CAN communicate with the Chinese government on their level, & my pick would be Kevin Rudd. Ex-Labor PM Rudd. But Morrison would see China invade Australia before he'd turn to the Dark Side for help. #auspol
