Rugby League was created 125 years ago, when 22* clubs met in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, on Aug. 29 1895 to secede from RFU and create Northern Union.

This thread is my collector’s take to celebrate: 22 Baines cards ;)

* I know, it’s a wee bit more complicated !
So, here are the 22 founding clubs of Northern Rugby Football Union - usually called Northern Union, and later renamed Rugby Football League @theRFL in 1922.

By alphabetical order + club date of foundation

1. Batley (1880)
2. Bradford (1863)
3. Brighthouse Rangers (1878)

5. Halifax (1873)
6. Huddersfield (1864)
7. Hull (1865)
