With Chadwick Boseman's passing, I really hope people are noticing the disability community expressing how able-bodied people should NOT romanticize him working through cancer, or treat him as inspiration porn. Don't sleep on their words or shrug off their voices and the nuance.
We can fairly assume that Chad kept working because he truly loved it, he loved his fans, he loved his art and his craft, but not everyone with a terminal illness can. Even the ones who can only just rest, who can't work through it at all, are superheroes too.
I felt the need to say this because it seems like able-bodied folks are feeling "chided" and "attacked" by the disability community and that's not fair. You're allowed to admire Chadwick for giving us all those movies while fighting, just be mindful is all they're asking.
I wish I could respond to everyone whose thoughts are so wonderful and kind, thank you. Anyone who took this as negative, that's on you, 'cause NOBODY is taking anything away from Chadwick's incredible power and strength. The disability community deserves to be heard, and loved.
