The really sick and insidious thing about @friendlyjordies’ attack on @AusUnemployment is the context in which it sits.

In the 70s and 80s, when labor organising was at its strongest, big business did a deal with the ALP that had them gut organising capacity in exchange
for a big increase to the social safety net (Medicare), artificially depressing wage growth.

This codified the ALP’s relations with big business, and since then they have been captured my literally hundreds of millions of dollars of corporate donations.
These businesses aren’t giving away that money out of charity. They expect a return. That return is continued depressed wages. Depressed wages are a really good thing for businesses, great way to save on costs.
But how do you get workers to accept such low wages? You make the alternative MUCH worse. That original increase to the social safety net has not been built on since the accords, whilst wages have continued to be artificial depressed by significantly weakened organising power.
Union membership has fallen precipitously as a result, from 50% before the Accord was signed, to now under 15% in 2020. All under the gleeful stewardship of the ALP and the ACTU.
Until the pandemic’s emergency supplement (to be wound back beginning next month), NewStart/JobSeeker was $100/week below the poverty line, medicare gap payments for specialists have never been higher, and we still don’t have dental in medicare. 40 years later.
Your alternatives now are “take the shit depressed wage or starve”. Unemployed people being LOUD, and fucking ANGRY, that the ALP won’t fight for their right to live above the poverty line is an existential threat to the pigs drinking from the ALP corporate donor trough.
We represent an existential threat to their gravy train. And, yeah, we’re fucking pissed. And to the people supporting them, all I have to ask is, at least Labor shills are getting paid for it. What do you get out of it? The delicious taste of ALP corporate donor boot?
It is DEEPLY fucking funny that in his videos, @friendlyjordies never once mentions the ALP's capture by corporate donations. Calls @GladysB #koalakiller rightfully so. Never mentions the millions of dollars the ALP has received from the fossil fuel lobby.
Hence they take policies like fracking the Northern Territory to the 2019 election and equivocate on Adani. Because they are COMPROMISED
So, yeah, that's why Labor has gone absolutely missing on welfare. Didn't even move to increase it in the 6 years they were in power 2007-2013, when it was also massively below the poverty line.

Why would they? Nobody was paying them to give a shit.
This thread here is an illuminating insight into one of Labor's prominent think tankers, Nick Dyrenfuth of the Curtin Research Centre. Highlighting the ALP's woeful deficiencies on advocating for the unemployed is now a partisan attack in their eyes. https://twitter.com/TrollmanBullcum/status/1299346332478402562
These fuckheads want to shit on us, take a paycheque to do it, and then also get "progressive cred" just because they're not the LNP who want to ruin us at a slightly higher clip.

Fuck all of these fake fucks. Call them out, never let them rest.
One cool thing about this thread is it contains sharper and more accurate political analysis than fromblyjerblies' entire back-catalogue of shit.
