“We used to want to be liked by people in front of us (parents, siblings, friends, colleagues, neighbors), now we want to be liked by millions of people we don’t know.

What is the long-term effect?” https://twitter.com/Skhu_Za/status/1297987002982432769
The impact is searching for approval of the imagined millions that actually are not reflecting real life, relations, things that require commitment & responsibility. And so they go looking for likes from millions of strangers, sometimes undermining themselves & real relationships
The latest example is the Conway family, which I think reflects modern American society. The husband goes online to undermine his wife to seek likes/approval. The daughter, a child, looking for likes by bashing her mother & parents & even accuse them of abuse.
I know people that go online posting things on social media that undermine their reputation & hurt their loved ones to seek attention & likes.

The question is what is the target audience & objective?

Are the likes worth the hurt? Does it cover the void? Does it make u happy?
