Obviously I can’t speak for every indigenous person as a whole, but for me and my people of the Cree Tribe, we find the profiting, the racism, the “native” slur, & the normalizing of stereotypes utterly disgusting.
If you’re indigenous and you don’t find this offensive, that’s cool, that’s your right! but for me, and many others seeing stereotypes depicted in art such as war paint, antlers, braids, eagles, and the usage of the word “Native” making it clear what the artist was going for-
is disrespectful and harmful to us. It plays into a narrative that this is all that we are, instead of having appreciation for our cultures and ways of life. For someone who appreciates and knows about the culture it would be less bad than a white artist who has-
