Wanna know what sucks?

Boseman was so amazing at what he did. Looking back, his talent was baffling. So many Black Americans left that movie wishing Wakanda was an actual real place one could visit--the science, the costumes, the togetherness, all guided by a king just like that
His acting made so many black ppl believe, even briefly, in something better -- even knowing that something doesn't exist. He was a superhero & even deathly sick he embraced his role all the way through and gave us what we needed to see in spite of what was coalescing around us.
And honestly -- he was more than Black Panther. He played Floyd Little, Jackie Robinson, James Brown, Thurgood Marshall... he made the most out of his life playing the roles of black figures in sports, music, and politics well before he became a fictional king. That's inspiring.
And from what I'm reading he was STILL giving us his gift -- having just wrapped up on another movie with Viola Davis (an adaptation of August Wilson's play "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom") -- only a few weeks ago.

He did that at the end of Stage 4 Colon Cancer

Can you even imagine?
So many kids AND adults loved his roles. Dude was a respected beacon via his talent.

The Black American community has been spat on sideways this year. All we've done left & right is lose our greatest & is it any wonder there's so much mourning/depression masked by jokes on here?
Combine that with everything else going on around us + all the other losses and... tired doesn't even begin to describe it.

At this point "tired" is a wholly and entirely unfair description when your lights and beacons are consistently turned off in ways that you cannot control.
The next few days are going to be a lot of a lot of a lot and the sad reality is that some ppl will take advantage of that to be purposefully terrible.

Cancer is cruel and honestly, folks are understandably done.
Please take care of yourself and be well.

The best well that you can be in spite of everything for whatever that is worth.
