No, the NBA stands for basketball 🏀, an escapism for people to entertain themselves, cheer for their chose team, sportsmanship etc.

Fun. To be so political & divisive is bad for business.

And now the NBA goes all in. https://twitter.com/mcuban/status/1299513376276709377
History will remember that the NBA is no longer fun but people that want to cram their politics down our throat vs good basketball & lighthearted fun.

By pandering to only 1 side, it loses the other. Besides, all this polarisation is good for politicians gaining power not sports
Of course, the NBA can choose to stand for whatever it wants to stand for.

But don’t forget people can too & they will choose to avoid this toxic climate.

America is already so full of toxic content, why tune in to watch more politics in basketball?
While American, I never understood people obsession with celebrities & athletes & sports like NBA & NFL.

I wonder if people could be so passionate about understanding how the economic & political machine works, things that affect their welfare, that we’d have less inequality.
I frankly don’t care about Mark Cuban or the athletes or what I said that triggered so many.

But I wish the mass would feel as passionately about central banks, property laws & regulations, fiscal budget & education & etc that impact the poor & the middle class of the USA.
But the language of finance & economics tends to create a high barrier of entry & people can’t relate. While they can relate to TV shows & sports & other more entertaining ideas but less useful to the upward mobility of Americans. Just like the responses below. A lot of passion.
And the fact that we don’t make statistics & $ & economics more relatable & understandable is a failure of our time.

I’m not here to trigger but promote financial literacy. Was thinking last night how I’d write a book on basic economics & what’d include that’d be useful.
As in, how would I get the same passionate response as u did about my tweets on the NBA as understanding how our financial & economic systems work.

And what would I inform to say an 18 year old about to enter adulthood about financial literacy?
Maybe I will work on that on my spare time. To get people excited about economics & finance as they would with the NBA & celebs. Likely a tall order but I truly believe that it is a fundamental skill to succeed as adults to make informed decisions.

Have a great weekend. 👋🏻
