Guess what I heard?

The Dems might know predators when they see them -
but they don't think the American people care about it enough to force change.

Because we aren't in the streets.
Because we aren't demanding it.

If you have a problem with that, say something about it.
There's a core issue with all of the problems we're facing: institutional racism, serial sexual predation, climate change-

it's that the people with money want to keep that money, and the people with power want to keep that power.
And, yeah - the majority of those people with money and power are old white men. Or young white men with money.

& the majority of those people with money AND power don't get there without having broken the law or helped others get away with doing so to get there.
Though that doesn't mean just politicians, and while it does include some on the left side of the aisle, it's far more ubiquitous on the right;
the GOP is the party that not only is lassiez-faire with regard to predation, but that intentionally promotes those who are compromised.
The GOP plays dirty, yet effectively - if there is a single bad actor amongst the opposition, they'll act like that's equivalent to the rampant rapeyness in their own cloakrooms.

But without pressure, the Dems aren't gonna stand up to do anything about it.
So. Rather than sitting here whining about being blocked by @sapinker, maybe you should take the time to write a letter to the @DNC and @DCCC , and your local party, to let them know what your thoughts are on the matter.
Because no predator should hold a position of political power over anyone they've victimized in the past...

period.
I've been told it's a bad idea that all candidates for office waive statute of limitations as a defense against predatory crimes as a condition for being on the ballot,
because that puts candidates in a separate 'social class'?

That's BS.
There is zero reason ANY candidate should be able to deny allegations of criminal activity with impunity because victims who didn't file charges at the time they tried to move on with their life didn't know they'd possibly find themselves subjugated
to the whims and potential political retribution of having their assailant, or the person who stole from them, as their conduit to redress their government.

The candidates cry that their victims can't prove their allegations, but block the only path victims have to 'proof.'
And with no way for the public to demand a sworn statement from the candidate issued under penalty of perjury - with the only path remaining for victims to obtain any statement being a civil suit for monetary consideration, candidates simply dismiss allegations as being after $.
An application to be on the ballot should be treated like any other job application - if applicants to work in an office sign away their rights for prospective employers to run credit checks and background checks,

SO.
Should.
Political.
Candidates.
I don't care which pathway it takes -
- removing any and all statutes of limitations on predatory crimes where non-circumstantial evidence is available
- requiring candidates to waive those rights for 1 full year prior to appearing on a ballot
or requiring candidates to make sworn statements under penalty of perjury on an application to appear on the ballot that they have committed zero criminal acts for which they have not been prosecuted, and addressing any future allegations via sworn statement, risking perjury
If you want the authority to govern legitimately and make real progress, rather than resorting to leverage behind the scenes*, you'd take this first step.

* & if that's an actual strategy, given all the material that's been available over the past 4 yrs, srsly wtf?
But holding office is not a right, it's a privilege.

If you want that privilege, you need to be willing to prove you're not a predator.

It's that simple.
And we need to make sure that demand is heard, addressed and acted on.

Because this is something that all rational actors on both sides of the aisle will agree on:
Unless you're a predator - or otherwise profiting from one - no matter which side of the aisle you are on,

AMERICANS DO NOT WANT
- child rapists weakening sexual assault laws meant to protect your children
- financial fraudsters weakening fin laws or law enforcement
If you have a better idea to accomplish the same, please share it.

If you don't, this is a start.

But if the Dems don't take meaningful action on this soon, that inaction might justify that equal disdain for protecting sexual predators that the right always fires back with.
Because that inaction doesn't just taint elected officials:

It leads citizens to accuse each other of supporting predators, which allows hostile forces to use that to weaken our national unity.

That inaction helped us get to the divisiveness we're living through now.
And I hope you know, by now, that is kind of a BFD.

So prove me right - that the party of diversity and equity and opportunity is also the party that supports justice
and, regardless of ideology,

helps ensure those who lead us are only chosen from among the best of us.
