Heartening to hear the Premier and @VictorianCHO talking about the challenges of living alone. It's been seven weeks of lockdown and I'm really feeling the strain of spending every night at home alone. I can see one person for an hour-long walk, if they live in my 5km. It's tough
I'm pretty resilient and enjoy my own company but the thought of more weeks of restrictions without being able to have even one friend visit me at home is daunting. I hope they address this for the next stage. Especially for those who don't have friends in their 5km to walk with.
Bizarre that my partnered friends who don't live together can travel between their two homes, with multiple housemates at each place, and I can't have one person come and sit on my couch. Shouldn't have taken six months of the pandemic to examine mental health impacts of that.
If one more person tells me “you can just Zoom your friends if you live alone”, I may break something. It’s not the same. The loss of physical touch and the closeness of someone just sitting on your couch to decompress at the end of the day gets harder the longer this goes.
