I remember in high school social studies, we learned about all the "East German Refugees" who fled to West Germany, without once asking "Why did Nazis feel safer in the West?"
With the number of liberals quote tweeting me, I don't think they understand the years 1945-1950 in Germany with the four administered zones.

Also, they forgot WW2.

Odd, how many of them know about the Stasi but none of them know about BND with Gehlen.
I really don't think most American comprehend the implications on these two paragraphs.

The US sending over saboteurs to the DDR wasn't that well-kept of a secret. Here is an article from the New York Times.
The next day on Page 3.
The state department glossed it as"Swastika incidents." But they do confirm that in 1959 there was a problem in BRD.

Incidentally, what is a synonym for "a group that fought against Russians in World War 2?"
In 1946, Allen Dulles attended a planning meeting about The Group, and of course, he knew.
Allen Dulles suggested researching on whether The Group would be useful to "American values" in the long-term.
One of my favorite games to play is to take this list " Who's who in Nazi, Germany" and then match it up with their work as a CIA operative later.

Another fun activity is to take this list and then figure out "Which branch of the Canadian government is their grandchild working for?"🤣
This one, you probably can match up most of these industrialists' children or grandchildren with the corporation.
People who are so sure that East Germany was repressive and West Germany was free, don't have any data other than cold war hysteria and vague notions from their youth they selectively heard on American news.
West Germany wasn't as free as you think either.

The Communist party was banned in West Germany in 1956...
And their property seized...
Western Allies (US,UK and France) banned four newspapers in West Germany in 1951
In 1950 too! Lots of freedom being banned.
In 1949, US banned a pamphlet that called the US government "toadies of wallstreet"
Remember, how the communist party got banned in West Germany. Look at that... ironically, in 1952, the Neo-Nazi party does not get banned!
Other things you don't hear about: US and British troop defecting to the East.
We were very close to getting a full-blown fourth Reich.
West Germans ban an East German vacation trip.
This one requires deep analysis for all pro-western dronies.
What's a moderate neo-Nazi?
Depending on what year, you could totally walk across the border between East and West Germany.
