That Briahna Joy Gray thinks it will be easier to mount (and win) a progressive presidential campaign in 2024 if Biden loses this November illustrates the core problem with electoral leftism that is willfully indifferent to Trump's abuse of power.
For some reason, people like her think that if it's Bernie instead of Biden in the driver's seat, the enthusiasm around Bernie's candidacy would make all of Trump and the GOP's efforts to deny the franchise....irrelevant. And I mean, it's ludicrous.
Based on where and how Biden won in '20, we know that a lot of Sanders' '16 support amounted to a kind of negative partisanship -- people voting against Clinton more so than for Sanders. So, there's no reason to believe enthusiasm would overcome structural barriers to the ballot.
But, let's put a pin in that. How could one possibly think Trump getting a second term wouldn't have any impact on how elections are conducted etc in this country for the foreseeable future? Where has Gray been the past 4 years -- the past 4 months even? My god.
