I want to talk about transition.

Some of us divide it into two categories, but really there are three.

Medical - HRT, surgeries, etc
Social - New name, new pronouns, new wardrobe, jewelry, makeup changes etc.
Legal - Legally change name, change sex/gender on documents
Not one of these is better than the others. They're all important, and for some people only two are important. You don't need medical intervention to be trans or to validate being trans.

If you think you're trans, it's not appropriation to say you're trans.
You can be binary, nonbinary, agender, genderqueer, genderfluid, bigender, etc. and you can still be trans. You don't have to be trans to be these, but if it feels right and it fits, then you're trans.

We don't need separate umbrellas or heavy categorical restrictions.
No one can tell you if you're trans. You have to see it for yourself. Others can, however, help you work that out. Help "crack your egg." No one can tell you that you're *not* trans. That's again up to you. If you need to think about and experiment with your gender, go for it.
You're not hurting anyone if you do. Anyone who says you are is anywhere from mistaken to just malicious. It doesn't matter where they might be on that continuum, because it's about them and not you. Just be true to yourself as best you can.
If you don't want to be the gender you were assigned, you can be. Just be the gender you want to be. If you want to be trans but think you aren't, you're almost certainly trans. It's definitely worth some thought. Cis people don't spend time wishing they were a different gender.
And what you want to do once you know you're trans or nonbinary or agender or etc? HRT? Surgery? Name change? Different pronouns? Different expression? Go wild. Experiment. Figure out what you need and what you want and claim it with the entirety of your being, if you can.
Be safe. Be yourself. The gender binary is fake, you owe it nothing.
Most especially, you don't owe anyone who tells you that you have to alter your body anything. If you want to alter your body, go to town. If you don't, that's cool too.
You also don't owe it to anyone to not alter your body. It's your body, after all. Not a woman's body or a man's body, it's all yours.
Wanted to add: These are more like a la carte items than strict categories. Just want HRT? Just want to wear different clothes? Only sometimes? Just want to change your name? All are fine. It's your decision. https://twitter.com/lisaquestions/status/1299514933164478464
