Here is a thread of some common TERF dogwhistles. I want to see every exclusionist who yells to "stop calling me a TERF!!!1!!111!!!!!1!" stop using these completely.

#1: "Lesbian = female homosexual"

Last year leading up to the Vancouver Dyke March, TERFs put up thousands of these stickers. They often specifically targeted trans-related posters, as pictured. They frequently use this definition specifically to exclude trans lesbians.

#2: the double venus symbol

The morning before the Vancouver Dyke March, TERFs got up at 4am and spraypainted hundreds of double venus symbols along the dyke march route. Again, this generally looks harmless to bystanders but is directly targeted to make trans lesbians unsafe.

#3: the entire concept of "lesbian erasure"

Another tag TERFs painted along the Vancouver Dyke March route by TERFs was "resist lesbian erasure." Other people's existence does not erase yours. Claiming otherwise is exactly what TERFs do to claim trans women erase lesbians.

This isn't to say lesbian erasure as a whole doesn't exist. Rather, the way TERFs and other exclusionists use it to clain that others' existence erases them is 100% a transmisogynistic dogwhistle.

This thread is written from my lived experience as a trans lesbian who has been involved in community organizing, including directly and indirectly combating TERFs and their other fascist friends.

#4: the classic "queer is a slur"

TERFs despise the term queer because it is intentionally and explicitly inclusive of ALL queer people, not just cis lesbians. TERFs blocked the 2018 London pride parade until the organizers allowed them to lead. Here are some of their banners.
