Imagine ancient group, with the latent instincts that would culminate in scientific bent toward categorization. This group "saw" distinctions between things and their characteristics. Most other groups did not--and do not--"see" in this way.
The others make on vague distinctions between things, and do not have the latent instinct to autistically categorize, sort, and discriminate. Imagine this ancient group was organized on a war footing and imbued with ancient vitality.
This group, upon encountering those who do not "see" in this way, would regard themselves as having or possessing "reality," (Genealogy of Morals essay 1 pt5), in contrast to those others.
Interacting with such groups on equal terms would have been impossible--they could not "see" the nature of things. Firm distinctions regarding things, behaviors, and people would have to have been imposed on them. (See Aristotle on natural rulers versus natural slaves.)
Otherwise, their yeast-like existence would destroy distinctions. Differences between, for example, private, common, and collective property would be blurred. The killing of a pedo would be regarded as an outrage and a crime.
