Thread on how Korea is handling Covid:

-I'm currently in korea for medical things as well as seeing my grandpa who might not have much longer to live so please DONT take this as a sign to travel for leisure here, I just want to spread awareness how well of a job they're doing-
I originally wanted to keep this private but a friend thought this info would be very helpful to show the difference on how other countries are handling the pandemic vs the states
I'm currently staying at a government approved airbnb so it might be a bit of a diff experience compared to if you were going to the hotel version.
The airbnb has to be PREAPPROVED by the gov in order to stay there for self quarantine.
The second I landed I had to download an app that where I had to put in the address of where I'm staying as well as report to it twice a day regarding my health.

If you disregard it then you'll face a fine or could even get deported if you're a foreigner.
The next day I needed to go get tested(all travelers have to get tested w/in 3 days). They gave me a bag full of supplies after. The test & supplies were FREE.
I tested negative but the 2 week self quarantine is mandatory even if youre negative.
This was a care package sent by the government for being in self quarantine..again this was FREE!!
Korea sends out texts whenever someone in the general area gets tested positive for covid & gives the exact location/time & that if you were around there that you should get tested too.
I'll be updating the thread periodically during my stay here.
Its been 14 days & I'm free to go out!! Korea is still under level 2.5 social distancing though. Only takeout at most places, all schools closed, gatherings of 10+ prohibited until the 13th. Although this week cases stayed under 200, they're doing another week to be safe.
