you think a stinging indictment of the drug war is copaganda? https://twitter.com/ACAT4000/status/1299496137808842753
i really haven't gotten how people think the wire, of all shows, was copaganda. i do think, though, the show worked hard to demonstrate the human beings behind every job. perhaps that comes across as trying to make the cops look better, but the show treated the dope boys the same
the only characters the show couldn't bring itself to humanize were the bosses at the newspaper. maybe that was just too personal. but where i think season 5 suffers is in the flat way those higher ups were portrayed. they even showed damn burrell and rawls have human moments.
i took that as "there's a right and wrong way to do the job." but i guess i see where you're coming from. https://twitter.com/ACAT4000/status/1299497392782401542
i'd buy that argument if bunny was the only higher up that we saw. we saw plenty of them. and most of them were awful. do they all have to be awful? https://twitter.com/RealSimbalism/status/1299498762390458368
i think that's clearly an idealized notion of being an officer. but i also think there's room in a work of fiction for a character who sees the world as such. i don't think that character is propaganda simply because it exists. https://twitter.com/Wilcrest10/status/1299501022377848843
