OK so if this ⬇️ is you trying to crunch the numbers on your #PedsRes program excel sheet as you make your rank list, I am going to ask you to turn off your 🧠 for a hot second and listen to your gut (or your 🫀).

You have spent your whole educational career fighting to be the best and analyzing just how to do that. While the elusive "prestige" is one piece of the puzzle, there is so much more to being happy in residency training.

18/
Focus on those intangible things that aren't written on any website. Could you be yourself around the residents and faculty? Did your identity shine through or was it overshadowed by something else? Did they celebrate your successes? Would this place feel like home?

19/
When I matched @nationwidekids I knew that not only would my passions be celebrated, but there would be fellows and faculty to mentor me and help those passions become part of my career. You cannot underestimate the power of both formal and informal mentoring in #PedsRes.

So I'll end with a quote from my favorite fictional character, Leslie Knope:

"I am big enough to admit that I am often inspired by myself."

YOU ARE ALL AMAZING.
