The Genesis of Thriller was inspired by Trevor Nelson’s 'Thriller: Michael Jackson’s Masterpiece'. I recommend this if you're interested in going beyond MJ's creative process, diving into the politics of Thriller and its commercial/cultural impact.

MJ's autobiography, Moonwalk. I see a lot of criticism from people about this book, but I LOVE it. Moonwalk was a fantastic resource for the fact-checking process. Bruce Swedien's book In The Studio With Michael Jackson was another helpful resource during the fact-checking process. All The Songs: The Story Behind Every Track by @richardjllecocq & François Allard. The title says it all. This book is GLORIOUS! It discusses the origins (they use the word 'genesis', coincidentally) and the production of EVERY song. Michael Jackson The Maestro (both volumes) by Chris Cadman. Basically the MJ encyclopedia. Cadman is the OG of MJ fact archivists and these books speak for themselves.
