2020 has been a year of mass layoffs, evictions, and endless police terror. We're fighting back against unjust systems of power and violence by demanding a #MiamiPeoplesBudget to support our neighborhoods with COVID recovery and invest in a future we can belong to with dignity
3,300 people sit in a jail cage daily in Miami-Dade County, many because they can't afford to pay bail; separated from families, unable to go to work or school. We demand investment in an Alternatives to Incarceration Work Group to reduce our jail population & bring people home.
Miami is 1 of the most expensive cities to live in, in the entire WORLD. Thousands are even more vulnerable to eviction because of lost wages due to the pandemic. We demand investment in affordable housing and emergency rent relief for the people of Miami.
Annually, MDPD receive over $760 MILLION. During a pandemic, economic crisis, and wave of uprisings in defense of Black life against nonstop killings & abuse at the hands of police, We demand a reduction in the county police budget, reallocated towards public needs for services.
