Welcome to @LGBAlliance_USA!

We will be pursuing an agenda that is largely aligned with the agenda of the UK-based organization @AllianceLGB. The following is a brief description of our concerns:
We are LGB: lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals living in the United States. We define ourselves in terms of same-sex sexual orientation. Sex, not “gender.”/1of12
Our group is led by lesbians, but we welcome gay men & bisexuals. We also welcome support from trans and straight people who endorse our aims. /2of12
Lesbians in particular have come under pressure in recent years to accept that what matters is a person’s gender: “Some lesbians have penises.” Those who reject this are called “transphobic.” This is offensive. /3of12
We assert the right of lesbians to define their own ¬– our own – sexuality in terms of #SexNotGender./4of12
We will not be called “cis.” We do not have a “gender identity,” we have individual personalities. We will treat other people with respect at all times, but we will not be told what language to use about ourselves or other people./5of12
We oppose the transitioning of children. We oppose puberty blockers, all surgical intervention and medicalization of kids under 18 suffering from gender dysphoria. We believe society needs to be educated about the relationship between child transition and homophobia./6of12
We believe that the voices of detransitioners need to be heard. These are people, largely women, who transitioned, often in their teen years, and now regret it./7of12
We believe that the notion of “gender identity” has been falsely marketed as a “progressive” belief. Anyone who tries to explain what it means ends up relying on outdated stereotypes related to toys, clothes, and certain activities./8of 12
We believe that “gender identity” is the opposite of progressive./9of12
We strongly oppose the witch-hunt against women who express their support for the sex-based rights of women and LGB people. We condemn the abuse that is directed at @JK_Rowling and at all those who express similar views./10of12
We advocate a complete rethink of the way issues of sex and gender are approached in US society, especially in the liberal media and schools. It is time to reassert freedom of speech. /11of12
We urgently need respectful, fact-based discussions of these matters throughout US society. These are issues that affect us all./12of12
