so out of curiosity (and no judgement) do YOU think ketchup is a smoothie?

so allow me to start off by explaining the definition of a smoothie. this is what a smoothie related website has to say:

using the provided definition only, it is easy to point out the flaws of labeling ketchup a smoothie. a smoothie needs a varying amount of fruits/vegetables. ketchup only contains one fruit and spices.

the picture below is EXTREMELY important. a smoothie has three bases that ketchup lacks: a base (arguable), assortment of fruits and vegetables, and most importantly, ice.

A BASE:
here is a list of ingredients that can be considered a smoothie base (take what is relevant). juice is on the list. squeezing tomato produces juice, which is use is used in ketchup. so in conclusion, yes, ketchup has a base.

ASSORTMENT OF FRUITS/VEGETABLES:
this has to be the most important point. smoothie is known as a blended form of multiple fruits/vegetables how can you label ketchup under the smoothie umbrella when only one fruit is used?

. if using only one kind of fruit (or vegetable), then the liquid product produced from squeezing said ingredient is considered JUICE. if going by the same logic that ketchup is a smoothie because tomato is a fruit, then we should also consider it juice-

-since it is the product of one fruit and added spices (or sugar for regular juices). but everyone is smart enough to know ketchup is NOT juice but in fact the tomato juice used for the ketchup, is.

is it soup? here is the definition of soup. ketchup is not a warm product, therefore not soup. ketchup is not eaten plainly by itself with toppings either.
