This guy wrote me from prison asking for an interview. He says had his toe amputated & then caught covid & ended up in a wheelchair, transferred to a max unit on a lockdown.

“I need an ally and a friend. I’m outnumbered & on top of all that, I’m so sad I can’t describe it.”
The toe amputation back in the beginning of the year was because of an infection. He was taken to the hospital and brought back and then started having COVID symptoms - and when they took him to the hospital again he tested positive.
When he got better, he says they shipped him to a unit for physical therapy, but he didn’t actually get it. Then they said they’d send him to another unit for physical therapy and he still didn’t get it; they just gave him a wheelchair.
Through all of this he’s been without his belongings, as the prison system didn’t have those following him. He’s been transferred at least seven times since the pandemic started.
He begged for an interview - but of course I can’t really interview him, at least not in person. There haven’t been in-person interviews since COVID started and they halted visitation.
“I know there’s probably thousands in worse shape than I am,” he wrote. “I hope you and your family are safe. I’m praying for all of us.”
